  1. Saturday morning, leaving early from Saloniki. Very tired and excited at the same time. It's so beautiful outside the window, the sun goes up over the clouds. Also I am over the clouds, of happiness.. Pireas, waiting for hours for the boat to leave. The boatride over. A pretty rocky one, it starts to rain. Agnie tells me the concert is moved, to the theatre. She's gonna try to hold a seat for me. Ermoupoli at dusk...Wonderful to be there again. It's the third time I visit Syros and I love it more and more. It's still raining but I get a ride to the theatre. It opens just when I get there and everyone is crazy, running around trying to find seats. The theatre is small but absolutely beautiful and when I get in it's already full. I'm calling Agnie trying to understand where she is with my bad Greek. It takes a while but finaly we're there, at the bottom. Great seats! The concert starts, all these bouzoukis! I'm a bit disorted, trying to take pictures and I'm soo tired. Soon I forget about tiredness and photos and just listen instead. Beautiful songs, I can't tell wich ones they where but others have done that. They are almost all of them new to me. Dalaras at his best. He's controlling it all. It's amazing what carisma that man has! The atmosphere is great. The only thing wrong with the concert is that it is too short. Sunday, my mother arrives from Egina and we meet Agnie and Anna outside the theatre. This time we've got tickets at the same spot as yesterday. I didn't bring my camera, I want to listen. Besides it's to dark. It's better today. I recognize the songs. People are talking to Dalaras, wishing him a happy birthday. Again I'm amazed of Dalaras, I have no words for how I feel. The other singers are performing very well too, especially Stelios. Just great a weekend, I can't wait for the CD..
  2. Qlga, I will do my best!! Anna, see you there!! Does anyone know when the concert starts? Agnie? Hedda
  3. Thank you Agnie, for the information. I'm going to this concert, with my mother. Anyone else going? There are no tickets for this concert, right? Hedda
  4. I've got this interview, it's in Difono 49 / October 1999. Unfortunately it's to big to put on the site or send it by e-mail. If I try to make it smaller you can't read it.. If you want I can print it and send it by snail-mail. Or does anyone else have this interview in a more useful size? Hedda
  5. Well Andreas, was the swedish song much better..? I would definately have voted for Greece if I had been able to... I reckon this show lost it all when every country was allowed to sing in English, now all songs are very much the same. Niki, they are the Olsen brothers, they are from Denmark. You can find the song "Fly on the wings of love" and much more on their homepage, www.olsen-brothers.dk Hedda
  6. Taxidi sta Kythira for a friend who is sad
  7. Just awesome, Kate!!! Thanks!
  8. ..Back again after 5 wonderful weeks in Greece. I'm still a bit dizzy but I try to put down my expressions. Me and my father went to Zygos the 31(a pity I didn't know you were there Geeske, I would have loved to meet you!). We had tried to book but since we were only two we couldn't. When we arrive at Zygos it's soo much people I never thought we would get in but all of a sudden we are, upstairs, sharing a table and with a great view of the stage. All this Greek buzzing in my ears that I'm now slowly beginning to understand. This feeling in the air, expectant, happy. All of a sudden the lights go out and the girls come out singing Patridognosia. And then, little Areti Ketime, so young, so pure. I can't believe I'm really there until Dalaras starts singing Trelos gia sena. This is really my madness..I won't write down all the songs since Geeske has done it so well, just add that he also sang To palio stratiotis and Ki an se thelo. My highlights must be Amore, what a song, I've never heard it before. Can I find it on any CD? And always, Ego tha sou milo..All the time Dalaras so happy, enjoying it so much. When he comes to the presentation he stuffes it up a bit, calls Giorgos Marinakis something else. Excuses himself with that it's four Giorgos on stage. Everyone laughs, everyone's relaxed. I know I will be in heaven for a few more moments. He goes out, we manage to get him in again, one time, two times. The last song, Pou'ne ta chronia. Where are all those years I didn't know Dalaras music, what did I do..I have so many years to discover still..The lights come back on but it takes me a long while to climb down from those clouds I've been on. Thank you all for your great stories, I could relive my night many times through them, and the photos, so beautiful.
  9. The wind is singing in my windows right now and it's indeed very cold.. I'm not really satisfied with this, it doesn't sound good somehow.... ΜΕΘΥΣΜΕΝΗ ΒΑΡΚΑ Μουσική: J.Fearnley Στίχοι: Μάνος Ξυδούς Ο αγέρας στα παράθυρα της πόλης τραγουδάει το κρύο έπιασε χοντρό στις λάμπες περπατάει κάτι φαίνεται μακριά στου δρόμου την αρχή που τρεμοσβήνει σαν πυγολαμπίδα στη βροχή Μάνα τις βαλίτσες μου πού έκρυβες καιρό κατέβασέ τες δωσ' τες μου δεν κάθομαι εδώ μη με ρωτάς πού πάω δε θα ξέρω να σου πω με γράμματα και κάρτες θα μαθαίνεις ότι ζω Είμαστε όλοι εδώ στην τρελή βραδιά και η βάρκα μας σκίζει τα νερά μα το μόνο που θέλω και ζητώ να δω τα χαμόγελα του ήλιου και της χώρας μου το φως Σε μια βδομάδα θα 'μαι πια σε τόπους μακρινούς μέσα στους κήπους του Βαν Γκογκ που ανάβουνε πυρσούς μπορεί στην πόλη της Οξφόρδης που μυρίζει χθες με δυο βαρέλια μπίρα στου Μονάχου τις γιορτές Μια πολκα με τους Ρώσους στης Μονμάρτης τα στενά από γέφυρες να βλέπω του νερού τα μυστικά πάνω σε ντόκους οι τσιγγάνοι ξυπνάνε τα βιολιά κι ανοίγουν χιονισμένα τα βλέφαρα του μπαρ Είμαστε όλοι εδώ στην τρελή βραδιά και η βάρκα μας σκίζει τα νερά μα το μόνο που θέλω και ζητώ να δω τα χαμόγελα του ήλιου και της χώρας μου το φως Το μέλι στάζει απ' τα μάτια της πάνω στο μπαρ πανέμορφη τη βλέπω κι ας μην έχω ξαστεριά ακόμα δυο ποτήρια αχ και θ' αρχίσει να γελά και θα βαρυγκομάει κάποιου άντρα τη χαρά Κι όπως θα ψάχνει κάποιο βλέμμα μπορεί και να με δει στη βάρκα μας επάνω να ζητάω επιστροφή θε έρθει λίγο πιο κοντά μου κι εγώ σ' αυτή και έτσι αγκαλιασμένοι θα βουλιάξουμε μαζί Είμαστε όλοι εδώ στην τρελή βραδιά και η βάρκα μας σκίζει τα νερά μα το μόνο που θέλω και ζητώ να δω τα χαμόγελα του ήλιου και της χώρας μου το φως The wind is singing in the windows of the city the cold is so severe it's going on the lamps something is seen far away at the beginning of the road it's trembling like a firefly in the rain Mother, my suitcases that you did hide for a long time take them down and give them to me, I'm not staying here don't ask me where I'm going, I don't know what to say to you by letters and postcards you'll know that I'm alive We are all here in the mad evening and our boat cuts the waters but the only thing I wont and ask to see the smiles of the sun and the light of my country In one week I'll be in places far away in the garden of Van Gogh where there are lit torches maybe in Oxford that smells of yesterday with two barrels of beer at festivals of Munich A polka with the Russians in the alleys of Montmarte from the bridges I will se the secrets of the water at the docks the gypsies wake the violins and they wake the wintry eyelids of the bar We are all here.... The honey is dripping from her eyes over the bar I found her beautiful although I don't see clear two more glasses, ach, and she will start laughing and she will accuse a man for his pleasure And like she's searching to catch an eye she can see me I wish to return to our boat she will come a bit more close to me and I to her and embraced like that we will sink together We are all here...
  10. Both me and my teacher had some troubles with this one..especially the third verse we didn't make out....any ideas? Is this a song from the junta period? 11. Ξημερώματα άλλαξες ανάσα και πλευρό και ψιθύρισες ένα λόγο τρυφερό μετά από καιρό Σε αγκάλιασα πέρασες το χέρι στο λαιμό ξημερώματα απ' τη ζήλεια το θυμό στου πόθου το λυγμό IN AN UNKNOWN DREAM Daybreak you altered breathing and side and you whispered an affectionate word after some time You smiled so near and so far away I was frightened don't wake up just now then I would loose the scene Black eyelashes became borders the deep sleep separated us and the deeper you breathed the deeper you sank into an unknown dream to hide Daybreak you streched out your right hand and it seemed to me like you called for a taxi to go away no matter where And it seemed to me my life is empty and in half our love a desolated island which is going to sink Black eyelashes... Daybreak you altered breathing and side and whispered an affectionate word after some time I hugged you you laid your arm around my neck daybreak from the jealousys anger to the cravings sob
  12. He also sang 'Karavia sti steria'..I can't remember when though...
  13. First I was a bit dissappointed when I heard he was performing at Solnahallen which is not really made for concerts. It was a weird feeling waking up Saturday morning knowing I was going to my first Dalaras concert. Me and my Mum has been completely nuts the whole week not beeing able to concentrate on anything..I didn't understand he was really there until he got on stage and was greeted with a great roar.. The concert was just fabulous, I don't have anything to compare with but he seemed to enjoy it so much and the band was great, especially the percussionists. I had the great pleasure to meet both Anna and Kate before the concert and I hope we'll meet again at other concerts. Since there was no program I don't remember the exact order of the songs but I knew almost all of them. Maybe I can fill some gaps if you need, Kate. I don't have much to add after Andreas and Anna, it was just great and I will remember it forever.
  14. This song has a special meaning to me, it reminds me of a friend I have lost. Please correct what's wrong. ΓΕΛΑ ΠΟΥΛΙ ΜΟΥ Μου φαίνεται σαν να 'ναι χθές μα πάνε τόσα χρόνια που σαν βιολί το σώμα σου στα χέρια μου κρατούσα Με το ραδιόφωνο σιγά μες στ' απαλό σκοτάδι θα τρόμαζες αν ήξερες πόσο σε αγαπούσα Τίποτα δεν έχει αλλάξει και τίποτα δεν είναι όπως παλιά μένει όμως ακόμα ένα πείσμα που δεν είναι συνήθεια μοναχά Γέλα, γέλα πουλί μου γέλα γέλα, κι είν' η ζωή μια τρέλα It seems to me like it was yesterday but it has been so many years since I held your body like a violin in my hands With the radio slowly in the soft darkness you would have been frightened if you knew how much I loved you Nothing has changed and nothing is like it used to be there is still a stubborness (?) which is not only a habit Laugh, laugh my bird laugh Laugh because life is a madness
