I was 16 or 17 then, learning Greek and admiring The poetry of Ritsos, the music of Mikis and the voice of Bithikotsis, not to speak of the way Chiotis played the bouzouki...

There is a great 1968 version of it by Nana Mouskouri in a double LP which has not been made into a CD yet although a friend of mine did it with sophisticated devices... The LP is called "UNE SOIREE AVEC NANA MOUSKOURI ET LES ATHENIENS" That was when the girl still had a voice AND a repertoire....
