I think - and it's one of many questions- I'd ask how it feels to know that so many admirers actually fly from far away just for the pleasure of his voice. I've read that he's a simple man. How can vanity resist to that?

Could anyone tell me if it's possible to order the new CD through internet? Trehantiri doesn't advertise it and neither does Amazon. Thanks! -
Good for me, Anna, next time I'll try to read the posts in Greek! The fact is that many times I see a big post and as I know it will take me about 2345 years to decipher it, I skip it. Shame on me!

Big face, really. Big voice too. I've just checked the official site and they posted a comment on the London concert. I had not seen it before. From what I understood George Michael and family were there!

I still can't get to see the video!
-
Yes, indeed they are great. They help me remember.

François, I have the Pente khronia Rembetiko Tragoudi. I bought it in Greece about 5 years ago but I don't think we're talking about the same thing because mine is no double Cd. It has 19 songs only. -
Just in case, any member of the audience didn't understand. ( that's very funny indeed because I didn't see the concert being advertised anywhere!)

He seemed pretty tanned to me! but I was far and can't say for sure. We call his kind "moreno" in Portuguese. And of course, it doesn't matter.
-
Geske, I think it's because he is wearing black and she's wearing white. He's melakhrinos and she is xanthia. It's a little bit a La Palisse thing, I know (in Portuguese we say it's the logic of the potatoe )...

Christo, I swear I'm not responsible ! Well, no explanation was given to us except that he had hurt his back. We don't know if it was on stage - maybe when he jumped? see my next post - or later. Maybe it was just a way to chase us out of the entrance where we were glued like bees on honey! But no honey, dear. Just the musicians, Marinella who, very diva-like, ran almost against us and would not stop for autographs, with a scarf around her face. As a matter of fact, we were the stars, taking pictures, making poses. That was a good moment. I haven't developed my pictures yet but anyway, I won't post them unless those on them give me their ok, but they will show certainely very amusing moments.

Geske, I really don't know what to tell you more. I couldn't write the names of the songs because I don't have the mazi cd and many were unknown to me. As you saw the Mazi in Lykavitos, I think, I guess it was very similar. Dalaras and Marinella started with a song without music, just voice and it was breathtaking. Then I think they sang together some songs and then it was Marinella on her own. She sang probably old hits of her because the audience, specially in the upper circle (or at least so it seemed to me - that's where I was) went frantic and sang along. Afterwards (but I cannot guarantee), there was a break. I remember the greek lady sitting by my side finding it extremely funny that I had come from Portugal to see the show. I had to tell her that there were people from Holland, Belgium and Cyprus as well who had come on purpose otherwise I'd be the joke of the night! Then she told me that she had come for Marinella who was bigger than George. I couldn't contradict her (though I wanted too ) and I answered her that I had come for Dalaras - and she replied: "but of course" with a naughty smile, but I also told her that I was amazed by the lady's talent and energy. As you put it yourself very correctly, Geske, c'est une bete de scene. During the interval, I went out to smoke a cigarette and talked to a greek lady who dreamingly told me: I think I'm in love, and I don't think she meant with Marinella, before we were kicked out of the place because it's not allowed to smoke in the Palladium. I told the guy that Britain was looking very much like the States. Mais je divague. The second part, if I'm correct, started with Dalaras: he sang some songs I know from the Apo Kardias album and at one time he said something which I think the general idea I understood like: this one is a must, or I have to sing this one (the other members who know much better greek than me can say better) and he started Ekhw ena kafene. I know he sang one that made Marinella cry but I didn't understand why at the time - now I know- and they had 5 encores (at least that's how many I counted). There was something that I found very surprising but again, as it was my first show, I cannot say if it is usual: in one of the last songs, at the end Dalaras jumped and shouted. (I just hope it's not the reason why he hurt his back, i'd like to see him do that again, it was funny and unexpected - Marijke, remember our jokes? ). Well, that was my own clumsy way to report, sorry if I made mistakes or inverted the order. And Olga, it was nice to say HELLOOOOO! through Diane's phone!

I've just arrived from London. It was my first concert and I confess that, obviously, I liked it a lot. And I include everything in the package: meeting some members, as well. I was a little worried that I'd be disappointed by Dalaras's voice live but on the contrary, it was even better than expected, very pure, very strong...I'm lacking of words. I was also very surprised by Marinella, she has such a presence on stage! Honestly, I thought her part would be a little boring but I was totally mistaken. And the greek audience is fabulous, vibrating at any song, paying a very well deserved tribute to those two stars. And yes, Marijke, as you were predicting, I too sang - what I knew- and shouted and whistled! Too bad the concert was so short and Dalaras hurt his back and couldn't/wouldn't come out at the end. Anyway, it was very much worth it.

As for my own soul, it is as flat as a pancake right now... Seriously speaking now, I have to say that I enjoy much more Dalaras when his singing is more "orientalized" like in this song than when it is westernalized - sorry if it's a neologism - or even pop(ized) which unfortunately is a default I find in some of his albums or songs. When I say pop, I don't mean only in the content - the lyrics- but in the melody, if the world is correct. You'll therefore understand why my favourite Dalaras's albums are Sergiani ston Kosmo, Vizantinos Esperinos and Mikra Asia. Those, as far as my quality standards are at stake. Emotionnaly speaking, I just love the album Ta Tragoudia Mou but as far as I know it's a compilation -I don't know if the world is correct - and there are many "best of" albums by Dalaras. Of course, be conscious that I'm only speaking of the albums I know/have and I only have in my possession about 10%, maybe less, of what he actually made. -

I have Me Telioses in George Dalaras A Portrait. I have to say that the solos are incredible, the interpretation fabulous etc. You know the rest. I'm out of words today and can only say common places - which is what I certainly do all the time but today, I am more realistic -

Hi, guys. I haven't checked the translation of this song yet but anyway, I'd be interested in your interpretation of the song. -

Well, how can humor be explained? Either you find it hilarious or you don't. The question is: have you or haven't you watched Terminator? Because if you haven't that makes a hell of a difference!... (or else, maybe people in Serbia have a whole different sense of humor from the rest of us...........)

I'm glad you finally have the song. In fact, Sodade is a creole word for saudade and it comes from the portuguese. As you know Cape Verde was a portuguese colony. Enjoy the song, it's so beautiful.
-
I don't have this song, unfortunately and I've looked for it on the net but no results. I'll ask Nighthwak to give it a try, he deals better with this thing than I do.

There you said it, Antometrios. Emotion with honesty and talent. No dumbness. The ability to feel and make the audience believe it is truly felt. I agree with everything you said ( though the pants part is an emotional response I could live without )
