Posted September 26, 2003 · Report post and with the Turkish translation, would somebody mind deciphering this song into English? As its this weeks song Im listening too, I didn't find any other threads open on this song. Though I understand most of the lyrics in greek, there are a couple of words that are still not quite clear or concrete to me. thank you
Posted September 26, 2003 · Report post I have the Dutch translation and put it in the best English I could. Open for corrections of course. Tο γράμμα // The letter Μουσική Γιώργος Ζαμπέτας // Music: Georges Zambetas Στίχοι Γιώργος Μητσάκης // Lyrics: Georges Mitsakis Όταν θα λάβεις αυτό το γράμμα // When you receive this letter εγώ θα είμαι πολύ μακριά // I will be far away και θα πιστέψεις πως δε χωράνε δύο αγάπες σε μια καρδιά // and you will believe (understand?) that there is no room for two loves in one heart Όταν θα λάβεις αυτό το γράμμα // When you receive this letter τότε θα κλάψεις με μαύρο κλαμα // you will cry black tears Πάντα με μάσκα εσύ μιλούσες // You always spoke with a mask κι ήθελες να 'χεις δυο αγκαλιές // and wanted to have two loves μα που το βρήκες αυτό γραμμένο // but where did you find written εσύ να παίζεις με δυο καρδιές // that you could play with two hearts Όταν θα λάβεις αυτό το γράμμα // When you receive this letter τότε θα κλάψεις με μαύρο κλαμα // you will cry black tears Κι εδώ τελειώνει μια ιστορία // And here ends a story μ' αυτό το κλάμα το θλιβερό // with this sad letter δε μετανιώνω που σ' αγαπούσα // I dont regret having loved you όμως λυπάμαι που σ' αγαπώ // but I do regret that I still love you Micki
Posted September 29, 2003 · Report post one small correcture for now: το κλάμα is not a letter, this is a cry or weeping or complain(ing).
Posted September 29, 2003 · Report post Micki A million thanks. Thank you I somehow imagined the song would translate to everything you said but was never completely sure how until now. And boy how this song ever really hit home. Excuse me for I've got to go now
Posted September 29, 2003 · Report post μ' αυτό το κλάμα το θλιβερό // with this sad letter The translation is correct, it's a typo in the lyrics. He sings: μ' αυτό το γράμμα το θλιβερό
Posted September 29, 2003 · Report post And 'klama' is not a cry but heavy crying in the sence of weeping with sobs.
