It was not merely entertainment, it was history coming alive before our eyes. The backdrop of images complemented the beautiful songs and made it even more poignant and emotional. I remember in particular the old cine film of a city destroyed by fire, smoke rising - and then rising out of the image itself behind the walls of the Irodeio and into the night sky. Please, can someone remind me which song Dalaras was singing at the time?

He was singing I Smirni (Romiosini, Romiosini...)

Regretfully these recollections will fade with time, so a plea to the Greek members - if this concert is ever shown on television, can I beg a video copy please???

Η συναυλία τελεί υπό την αιγίδα του Πατριάρχη Κωνσταντινουπόλεως Βαρθολομαίου και της ΟΥΝΕΣΚΟ και στους στόχους της είναι η υποστήριξη των έργων αναστήλωσης της Αγίας Σοφίας.

Γι' αυτό εξετάζεται το ενδεχόμενο το ίδιο πρόγραμμα να παρουσιαστεί και στην Κωνσταντινούπολη.

You can see a video with Dalaras singing "I Smyrni", but it's not from the Irodio concert. I think, it is from "Kai me fos, kai me tanaton akatapavstos"... (Megaro mousikis, 1994)

A woman, all in yellow, was standing rather high up just bellow the light and sound machines so that they two can see each other, when in a moment of complete silence there came a female cry that said 'I LOVE YOU', to which, as an echo, there came another, saying 'ME TOO'...

Speaking of record, if there one concert of which they ought to make a cd, this is it. Honestly, I'd much rather have this that the Vamvakaris one - and that says something because I like Vamvakaris a lot!
