For me, after my Amsterdam experience :

Σε κοιτάω και ξεχνάω τ' όνομά μου.

For this week (and not only I'm afraid) I've fallen in love with a song I think is called "Gi agapi min milas" ("Γι αγάπη μην μιλάς"). I haven't heard it all but it's simply magnificent. Unfortunatelly I know nothing about it... :)  So if anyone has any clues to give me (such as title, composer, record...) PLEASE do so...

 let's see for me

 'Kian se Thelo

  and Kali Tihi'

but for no apparant reason.

Just like hearing them from the sweet tone reproduced from Dalaras voice.

For this week, especially tomorrow, 'Voices' sung by Joan Faulkner on 'Live and unplugged', to remember the beloved ones that are not with us anymore.

Very once in a while I read this poem by Kavafis.

It's just beautiful.

The two songs that balance each other, that keep me on my toes, these days:

Του ερωτα                          Του Χάρου

(Αϊ της αγάπης μαχαιριάς)     (που τρώει γυναίκες και παιδιά)

Μικρά Ασία

It took a while for the music to really penatrate the barbarian's thick skull. With a little help from a text book, it finally did.

I'm shot.

Today:

Η προσφυγιά

specially dedicated to the newly re-elected prime minister of Australia

You never know. It might be a nice day tomorrow. But you'll only know when tomorrow becomes today.

Writing through the whole weekend, I come up with this song from Charis Alexiou:

"Proseuchi", the first song on the album"Odos Nefelis '!!".

A very sweet melody, good lyrics, a prayer for the dark Autumn and Winter to come (not my favourite season).

It's Μεθυσμένα τραγούδια (Methismena tragoudia) this week, the record just arrived the other day, oh JOY!

I've been playing it, and again, and again, but I can't seem to chose a favorite - so here goes:

the whole blessed record ,

on repeat,

ENJOY.

And the booklet is lying open

across the pages I have to translate today (for pay, not love)

open to mark the lines I am working on

open at that priceless photo on the last two pages

open on four mischievous innocent smiles in beautiful winter light.

Geeske, my favourite song from this album is "San ton Odyssea" (Σαν τον Οδυσσέα)

It's a great song(both music and lyrics), am sure you will like it!

Yes, I like Σαν τον Οδυσσεα it very much indeed.

I was specially curious about it, because it is a "someone" song (AntonisGitsas) in the One Member One Song compilation.

The more I listen to the record, the more I like it. And it's very much a whole, very consistent in style and quality, it 'hangs together' - maybe that's why I find it extra hard to pick a favorite.

Favourites will probably come by the time I figure out what the songs are about. (Remember? I still don't understand the lyrics just by listening... though I'm beginning to catch words here and there, which is almost worse than understanding nothing at all :wow: - frustrating, but stimulating, too).

Treloi kai aggeloi, I heard it this morning and I heard my name in a word 'anemi-zeis'. Now I have another song to translate and it seems to express my Fall and Winter mood.

one swallow

it swallowed up my entire morning

and I haven't even heard it yet, only read it!

(Οδυσσέας Ελύτης, Το άξιον εστί).
