This weeks favorite song

Today, the song I have in mind is "ΕΒΙΒΑ ΡΕΜΠΕΤΕΣ". I don't have the record any more, but I still remember, many years later, the extraordinary sweet way Dalaras sang "Πώς μ' αρέσει το πιοτό, μ' αρέσει και το πίνω να μεθώ"...

I don't drink alcohol, but the only thought of this song is making me drunk...

I came in from visiting, I turn on my computer, I turn on the radio (Thessaloniki), I get connection and what do I hear first? What I thought today (rainy day) was in the first line I heard :

Πού είναι τα χρόνια, ωραία χρόνια ;

Very nice song too. I know it very well with Bithikotsis, but I have only heard it recently by Dalaras. I hope I'll hear it again very soon on the radio!

A compilation of the songs I heard first time last night on Radio Thessaloniki :

And if I remember well:

If only I could have taped them.

I can't get it out my head! You know, that 'record stuck in a groove' effect? That. It just won't go away.

That tune is SO persistent.

And that song is SO good.

But it keeps reminding me that I have the translation of Σταύρος του Νοτου to complete...

I thought that finishing the translation and posting it would help: but no, Σταύρος του Νοτού is still there, undislodgeable:

will I end up hating it?

hello everyone

I just wanted to say I'm back from Arizona

and had a great time and was a successfulf festival out there.

Though I know this is not the place to post this, it does seem to get the most hits and response.

So without further adue the new song I like this week are:

   1) Ena Foustani who my friend in here Sarper sent me from  a singer named of Faidon singing it.

2)   And to my friend in here Maria

with the song 'Mia Vradia Sto Levoukesen'

where Dalaras sang it in Argentina and wouldnt leave from that song until the audience sang with him on the chorus.

Now what an enchanting and thrilling idea!

do we realize what an incredible wealth of meaning there is in those lyrics? The tune is so good that I always have to make an effort to listen to the words. So this morning I did.

Moral: don't do that while sewing, or get pricked fingers...

it's still shaking me

and shaking me

and shaking

My song for today is the following one, but I have to say that the music is NOT by Goran Bregovic. It is an extremely nice traditional Algerian tune (Cha'bi tradition) which most Algerian people who live here in Lille have known for ages...

Misa Criolla.

Looking for a little peace of mind today.

And those are just so beautiful.

:Dbellou.jpg

My song for today is:Agapi from M. Theodorakis.I just read a book about him. He had such an interesting life.      Franz

Franz, you mean he HAS such an intersting llife ?!

I hope.

At least, considering what mr Theodorakis is up to (Lysistrata and all), I don't think his life is dull :D

My song for today:

because it was my fortune cookie when I opened the site this morning, and because the day after tomorrow, I will borrow wings and take a turn above the city.

I'm not even going to attempt telling you how this song came to me - a story is too wild even for Dalaras magic! Miracle upon miracle, tears of joy, and what a way to start a journey!

It is so sweeta song! Has Dalaras sung it?
