Στο τριήμερο συνέδριο στα Χανιά για τη ζωή και το έργο του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη

«Να γίνουμε περισσότερο Ελληνες και λιγότερο ελληνολάτρες»

«Δεν μετανιώνω ποτέ που πάντα πίστευα και εξακολουθώ ακόμα να πιστεύω στην "άλλη" Ελλάδα, σε μια Ελλάδα διαφορετική, γιατί ακριβώς εμείς προσπαθήσαμε και τελικά την πλάσαμε με το αίμα της καρδιάς μας». Με αυτά τα λόγια του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη έκλεισαν χθες οι εργασίες του τριήμερου διεθνούς συνεδρίου για τη ζωή και το έργο του μεγάλου συνθέτη, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Πνευματικό Κέντρο Χανίων.

«ΟυρανοΜίκη» χαρακτήρισε τον Μίκη ο μητροπολίτης Κισάμου και Σελίνου Ειρηναίος.

Συγκίνηση στους παρισταμένους προκάλεσε όχι μόνο η ομιλία του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη που αναφέρθηκε στην Ιστορία, αλλά και στη μουσική, αλλά και η ομιλία της κόρης του Μαργαρίτας Θεοδωράκη, που μεταξύ άλλων τόνισε:

«Ολη μας τη ζωή την καθόριζαν τα πολιτικά γεγονότα, η Ιστορία της πατρίδας μας που εσύ την ακολουθούσες, αγκαλιασμένος πάντα με την τρομερή μας μοίρα, πάντα να προσπαθείς να ανατρέψεις το κακό.

»Ολα για το καλύτερο. Και πάντα παράλληλα υπήρχε η μουσική σου που τη θυμάμαι και αυτή να βγαίνει καθημερινά από μέσα σου και να μας αγκαλιάζει εμένα και τον αδελφό μου, τόσο φυσικά όπως όταν οι γονείς ταΐζουν καθημερινά τα παιδιά τους κι αυτό γίνεται κάθε μέρα για χρόνια, τρεις φορές την ημέρα. Ετσι και εσύ μας ταΐζεις καθημερινά με τη μουσική σου και τα τραγούδια σου. Σκέψου πώς είναι μέσα μας λοιπόν αυτή η μουσική σου και πώς εμείς οι δύο καταλαβαίνουμε τη μεγαλοσύνη της, το μεγαλείο της».

Ο Μίκης και οι πληγές της Αριστεράς ήταν το θέμα της ομιλίας του δημοσιογράφου Γιώργου Βότση. «Και τη δική μου τη γενιά, τη "γενιά της φάπας", που δεν αξιώθηκε να ζήσει την έξαρση και το μεγαλείο της Εθνικής Αντίστασης, αλλά γεύθηκε πικρά όλον τον κατατρεγμό της ήττας, τη στήλωσε στα πόδια της πρωτίστως ο Μίκης Θεοδωράκης, και όχι μόνο με τα τραγούδια του», είπε ο κ. Βότσης.

Ο καθηγητής Ηλίας Νικολακόπουλος αναφέρθηκε στην πολιτική παρουσία και δράση του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη μετά τη Μεταπολίτευση. «Επιστρέφοντας στην Ελλάδα, μετά την κατάρρευση της στρατιωτικής δικτατορίας, ο Μίκης Θεοδωράκης δεν ήταν πλέον μόνο το κορυφαίο σύμβολο του κόσμου της Αριστεράς», ο δημιουργός και ο πολιτικός που σημάδεψε πολλαπλά, όσο κανείς άλλος, τη σύντομη άνοιξη της δεκαετίας του '60, δίνοντας φωνή σ' ένα πλήθος ανθρώπων που την είχαν στερηθεί στα πέτρινα μετεμφυλιοπολεμικά χρόνια. Ο Θεοδωράκης της μεταπολίτευσης ήταν ήδη κάτι πολύ ευρύτερο και συγκέντρωνε στο πρόσωπό του διαφορετικές και ορισμένες φορές δύσκολα συμβατές ταυτότητες.

Στον Μίκη Θεοδωράκη ως δημιουργό κοινωνικού πλούτου στην Κρήτη και την Ελλάδα αναφέρθηκε ο δρ. Δημήτρης Κούτουλας, σύμβουλος Τουριστικής Ανάπτυξης και Προβολής, διδάσκων του Ελληνικού Ανοικτού Πανεπιστημίου. Οπως είπε, «η κινηματογραφική μεταφορά του Αλέξη Ζορμπά το 1964 με την ανεπανάληπτη μουσική επένδυση του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη έβαλε την Κρήτη στον παγκόσμιο τουριστικό χάρτη και πυροδότησε την ταχεία οικονομική ανάπτυξη του νησιού. Μέσα σε λίγα χρόνια, η Κρήτη προσπέρασε τη Ρόδο και την Κέρκυρα, τους κυρίαρχους ταξιδιωτικούς προορισμούς εκείνης της εποχής, και εδραιώθηκε ως ο σημαντικότερος τουριστικός πόλος της χώρας».

Στον μουσικό Θεοδωράκη αναφέρθηκε ο τραγουδιστής Γιώργος Νταλάρας, ο οποίος σημείωσε: «Η μουσική του Μίκη έχει πάντα λόγο, αιτία και ευρύτητα, γι' αυτό και ξεφεύγει από τα σύνορα της χώρας, ευαισθησία και δυναμική και αποτυπώνει την αντίσταση με προσήλωση, σταθερά υποστηρικτική στον αγωνιζόμενο άνθρωπο της όποιας πατρίδας. Το λαϊκό τραγούδι με τον μετρημένο λυρισμό, μεταμορφώνεται σε σπίθα ζωής και αναζήτησης. Τα τραγούδια του Μίκη είναι και θα είναι αυτά του ονείρου, της συλλογικής προσδοκίας, του έρωτα, της ανατροπής, της αμφισβήτησης αλλά κυρίως της πολιτικής θέσης και της πρότασης. Οχι "όχι" για το "όχι", αλλά το τι κάνουμε τώρα, μετά την άρνηση. Τα τραγούδια του δίνουν λύση. Το ίδιο και οι επιλογές του και η στάση της ζωής του».

Ο βιολονίστας Γιώργος Δεμερτζής αναφέρθηκε στη μουσική δωματίου του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη, το πιανιστικό έργο του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη ήταν το θέμα της εισήγησης της πιανίστας-μουσικολόγου, Τατιάνας Παπαγεωργίου.

Για τα παιδικά τραγούδια του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη μίλησε ο διευθυντής χορωδιών Δημήτρης Καρβούνης.

Ο κριτικός μουσικής Γιώργος Β. Μονεμβασίτης μίλησε με θέμα: «Μίκης Θεοδωράκης: Τραγουδώντας στη σκηνή». Στη μουσική τού Μίκη Θεοδωράκη για τον κινηματογράφο, αναφέρθηκε ο σκηνοθέτης Νίκος Κούνδουρος.

Ο συνθέτης, μουσικός ερευνητής και κριτικός, Γιώργος Ε. Παπαδάκης αναφέρθηκε στην ιστορική τομή του Μίκη Θεοδωράκη στην εξέλιξη της ελληνικής μουσικής, ενώ ο νομάρχης Γ. Κατσανεβάκης είπε ότι ο Μίκης δείχνει τον δρόμο να γίνουμε περισσότερο Ελληνες και λιγότερο ελληνολάτρες και φιλέλληνες».

Τελος παντων... Το ''Βραδυαζει'' δεν το ειπε τελικα

Sorry, this happens if you want to do very quick Before I posted I had a look at the lyrics of the songs and had alreayd my doubts he sung 'Βραδυαζει' that night.

Maybe most of you just wait for the concert report and maybe some of you just for the Giorgos Dalaras part. Sorry, but I have to write a bit more and different.

This 3 day event in Chania, organzised by the Prefecture of Chania and finally realized with the help and contribution of so many people, was so unique and exceptional, as Mikis Theodorakis is! All of them (including the waiters at the buffet) who helped to celebrate this special birthday, deserve a very great thank you.

And this, just to explain my participation:

Theodorakis music was the first Greek music I listened to.

Crete was the first place in Greece I visited.

For me these two are something like the beginning of all so, when I heard about this meeting in Chania on Crete, well, I had to go there.

I did it via Athens, where I went to Irodion the 28th and watched an excellent performance of Zorbas the Greek, a ballet performance by the Hungarian State Opera, and, of course Theodorakis was there.

Next day I went to Chania, to the cultural centre, where the international conference took place. I went early, too early and got the final preparations, like cleaning the street and painting the borders with white colour!!! At the entry, after some waiting and discussing, they let me in. I got the prepared information map, but they told me, as I wasnt an invited participant, I had to look for a seat on the balcony.

Well, no problem. First row on the balcony, a bit right from the middle, I had a perfect view down to the hall and the empty seats!!! The floor, where you could eat, drink, smoke and talk, not only during the intermission, was much more busy. Only the last afternoon, especially when Mikis Theodorakis did his speech, almost all seats were taken.

The programme you know already from the announcement and the speeches from watching via internet!

As different as the thematic aspects about Theodorakis, as different were the entries of the speakers. The absolute highlight of all, the very best of all, was Margarita Theodorakis to my father at the first evening, which btw. was Theodorakis birthday. Never in my life I heard something as wonderful and warmhearted. And it was not only me who left the hall with wet eyes

I was bit disappointed about so many announced speakers not to be there. Maria Farandouri, Petros Pandis, Lorca Massine only per video. Maybe they did not do like me, who marked the 29th of July already in the beginning of the year in the calendar.

Zuelfue Livanelli and Guy Wagner missing because of health problems. The more Giorgos Dalaras deserves credit, as being on Paros the 29th because of Oedipus Rex (but our thoughts were with you), but coming immediately to Chania the next day!

Every speaker had 15 minutes, but not every one stuck to the rule. Gail Holst did it much toooooooooo long, her voice got high and higher and when she was told about the time, she lost the thread and got confused. Nikos Koundouros, just the opposite: short and precise, just some minutes. Btw. hes getting 80 next year!

I liked very much the entry of Peter Zacher and Arja Saijonmaa, because they talked about their personal relation and the first meetings with Theodorakis. But maybe it was just because they did it in English

Mikis Theodorakis attended the whole conference!! Most of the time accompanied by his wife Myrto (they are now married for 52 years!!). From the second day he put his legs up on a chair, but this was the only handicap, we could see. You wouldnt believe he got 80 years! So lively, interested and fit, amazing to see!! And finally some words to the concert

The place

Between the stage and the stone stand of the football stadium they put these, as I call them, Greek chairs. The wooden ones, which you find in the old tavernas. That kind of chair, where you need five to feel comfortable. One to sit down, one for the right arm, one for the left arm, one for the right feet and one for the left feet.

Well, that night everybody just got one, if!!! he got. If not, they had to go to the side, to sit in the white plastic, a bit more comfortable, but with a very limited view to the stage.

The stadium, all in all it was the right place. A popular place to honour a popular man. A lot of people, in the newspaper Xaniotika Nea they told about 4.000!!! And all the time, already at the conference, I got the impression, Theodorakis was very pleased about this meeting in Chania. Seemed to me, he enjoyed very much to be together with normal people and not with high society in Athens

The concert

was for free. Yes, but. A great central section was reserved for the invited participants of the conference and their friends. That was ok. But most of the Cretan people coming to get a seat, didnt know it! So, there was a little coming and going at the side of the border. Well, only from opening the doors until the concert started (2 hours). And if they finally got their seat, they had to tell their friends where they are, via cell phone, or maybe not, as they shouted as if they dont use a cell phone. Meanwhile I should be used to this noise, but Im not. Ill never learn

The beginning

Down, in front of the stage, Theodorakis was awarded the prize Dialogue of Civilizations by a delegation from Russia. I was sitting about 14th row, or so. As all chairs were at the same height, I didnt see what went on there. I only saw all musicians were leaving stage and I thought: Oh, no, there will be a long time for speeches! But no, they just left their places to pass the birthday cake to Theodorakis and to give the commando to us, the audience, to help to blow out the candles.

So, it didnt last this long and very soon the music started.

Maria Dimitriadi

She was the first to sing, after Giorgos Kimoulis, who did some readings. She did a very well known song, but sorry, I dont remember which one.

And this: all the songs Ill post now, I write them from the programme. As I didnt write down any notes and didnt tape anything, maybe Ill do again some mistakes

The singers

The great surprise for me was Giorgos Theodorakis! And what a surprise! From my seat I had the impression its the young Mikis Theodorakis standing and moving on stage! The same gestures! And almost the same voice and the same way to sing. No beautiful singing, no, but strong and stubbly, just as the father did!

Dimitris Basis doesnt reach me. Sorry, I have to say the same as I did after I saw him the first time at the Prespes concert for Lefteris Papadopoulos. His voice it ok, but Im missing the pathos.

Nena Venetsonou with a wonderful dark voice. Its a pleasure to listen to her. Sonia Theodoridou, so pleasant, I like her very much. And the song Santiago!!!!!! Bravo!!

Arja Saijonmaa, very good voluminous voice! She did her songs in Finish and the audience accompanied her in Greek. And maybe some more different languages within this international chorus!!

Giorgos Dalaras. He has and gives the pathos! And what a pathos! Βρέχει στη φτωχογειτονιά, so powerful! And the song Στα περβόλια! Perfect singing and amazing musical interpretation! Bravo!! And what a sensibility with the songs Παράπονο and Δρόμοι παλιοί ! And the smile on his face when he hears the orchestra playing the way he wanted them to do

The singers leave the stage and the area, while the orchestra is playing Ζορμπάς and now all, the whole audience clapping with the rhythm, which gets fast and more fast

It was a great concert, a celebration. For Theodorakis and for us. Singing, crying, even dancing, to his music. I dont know how they did, but the choice of songs was perfect. So many different styles of Theodorakis music, thank you.
