Posted November 14, 2001 · Report post I and Zeynep(another member) have tried to translate this beautiful song to English but,it was realy difficult to give exact meaning to some words,especially "ah kai vah",same meaning in Greek and Turkish but not in English.Anyway,it can be better with some correction. There isn't a Turkish version, as far as I know the Turkish lyrics were 'occasional', specially for this summer's "Mesogeios" concert. The song opens the album called "Mikra Asia", which tells the story of "mikrasiatic catastrophe". If we could sit up half the night over drinks I'd tell you what I know about it, but as it is I think you might want to get "A concise history of modern Greece" by prof. Richard Clogg for an exceedingly readable (and, indeed, concise) account of the facts. It'll fill in the footnotes many of other Dalaras songs too. For the essentials, better play Mikra Asia. Especially, since I thought recently about my future funeral arrangements (It crossed my mind on occasion of someone else's death ), and I decided on no religious ceremony and a Dalaras song played instead - the best I can think of is "Pethane o Aristidis" (very cheerful and appropriate for lifting mood of mourners, but he died "apano sto krasi"), so I better start drinking more regularly...
