Anyone who can spare the time, tell me please if I'm right or wrong in my translation.

FOOLS AND ANGELS

What are you sitting here and rot (away)

here is no place to stop

ailing you wave to the sun

debris and rags of the soul.

What are you sitting here and die

and you look for new prayers

you see the spoiling and keep silent

Autumn and the rains start

What are you sitting there and rot (away)

here they don't love the fools

at nights, you flutter bleeding

with non-existing wings a lot (I don't understand this)

All this, Dylan Thomas said to a poet of ours

and headed for the moon.

Thanks for helping me out here

Wonderful this song which I recently listened to for the first time (and the way Dalaras sings it unique !)

The last verse makes yet some troubles to me. This is Koujoumtsis song, but what said Dylan Thomas * and who was the greek poetry ?

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Dylan's death there has been put a site into the web **.

I tried a translation of Koujoumtsis song into German.

Herbert

NARREN UND ENGEL

Was sitzt du hier herum und lässt dich gehen ?

Hier ist kein Platz zum Verweilen.

Bekümmert lässt du die Trümmer und Fetzen

einer Seele in der Sonne flattern.

Warum sitzt du hier herum und stirbst ?

Suchst nach neuen Gebeten ?

Du siehst die Zerstörung und schweigst.

Es ist Herbst und die Regenzeit beginnt.

Was sitzt du hier herum und verfällst?

Hier lieben sie keine Narren

in blutbefleckten Nächten.

Could not the contact to the given website address be of help, Herbert?

Otherwise we'd have to ask Kyrio Stavro Kujumtzi (but be careful, the whole list of questions to him from me is waiting - like everybody can see for example from the today topic concerning one of his less known works:):)).

Ansonsten, ich mag Deine Version. Dazu melde ich mich noch, Herbert.

Herbert and Olga, I am the happy owner of the LP "Treloi kai aggeloi" and so I can help you up to a certain degree. The LP (not the CD ! :) )

is accompanied by a sheet with the lyrics of the songs and it contains the following remark by Kougioumtzis, concerning the song "Treloi kai aggeloi (Dylan Thomas)":

Σ.Κ."

"Inspired by the poem 'Parousia' ['Presence'] by Míltos Sahtoúris.

With my verses <αυτά είπε σ ένα ποιητή δικό μας και τράβηξε για το φεγγάρι ο Ντύλαν Τόμας> ['All this, Dylan Thomas said to a poet of ours and headed for the moon.'] I mean the poet Míltos Sahtoúris.

S.K."
