Nafplio is an amazingly beautiful city, a favourite excursion for all Greeks, and, incidentally, it was the first capital of Greece in the 1821 war to free themselves from the Turkish Empire (in the early stage when they hadn't yet conquered Athens, let alone Thessaloniki). It figures, indirectly, in another Dalaras song: Patridognosia (from "I asfaltos pou trexei"); this mentions "Palamidi", which is the spectacular (though ruined) fortress that crowns the hilltop above the town.
