Thinking while reading the topic 'Custom Dalaras CD' I tried this once and knew I had the translation still somewhere.

(I checked, hope I didn't overlook if there is already a translation)

I found this in a dusty corner of my hard disk - a souvenir from the old site, remember those useful little comments? How I wish I'd saved more of them! But I couldn't read them then, and now είναι αργά.

Παλιότερο τραγούδι σε δεύτερη εκτέλεση, από το δίσκο "Καλημέρα κυρία Λυδία", 1984, ενώ περιλήφθηκε και στο μουσικό κουτί, στο διπλό Cd με τα ρεμπέτικα. Ο Γιώργος Νταλάρας αναφέρει στο σημείωμα του δίσκου ότι αυτό το τραγούδι το έμαθε από τον πατέρα του. Του έκανε δε ιδιαίτερη εντύπωση και τον συγκινούσε ο τρόπος που το έπαιζε, και προσπάθησε να το μεταφέρει έτσι όπως το είχε ακόμη στα αυτιά του από το παίξιμο του πατέρα του.

of an evening in honour of Manolis Karantinis and his bouzouki, which ended with Dalaras being invited onto the stage and, after some consultation, taking a three-string bouzouki himself and interpreting this song.

So I thought I'd see what happens if I make a fresh translation of it. I'll try and translate Tasos' story as well, but I'm afraid I'm going to fall asleep before I finish it - sorry...

Nikolas comment from the old version of the site:

"An older song, covered by Dalaras on his 1984 record "Kalimera Kyria Lydia" ["good day my lady Lydia", with Giota Lydia - G.], and also included in the "Music box" on the double CD with rembetika. On the record sleeve, Dalaras refers to the fact that he learned this song from his father. The way his father played it made a special impression on him, it moved him, and he tried to transmit it just as he had it, still, in his ears, from his father's playing."
