Posted May 14, 2002 · Report post Dalaras always has two guitars on stage..He uses a nylon string classical model custom built by a guitar builder from Florida..There are only about 25 of these guitars existing total and are all custom hand built by guitar builder John Buscarino..The guitar he is playing is called a "starlight classic" and is made for stage use and to be plugged in..It has custom exotic woods like the top is a highly figure birds eye maple(look at the pics).It also has mahogany,purple hart,ebony and flame maple on it..It was built in 1992 and Georgo began using it in 1993..He uses this guitar for certain songs that he needs the nylon string classical sound rather than the steel string sound..The Buscarino guitar costs around $3500 US dollars..I also have one of these guitars in my collection..It is incredible sounding.... The other guitar he uses is a custom built for Georgo,"Ovation Adamas CVT" model with a cobalt blue graphite top.The top changes colors in the stage lights.It took two months to build and was presented to georgo on november 13,1999...He uses this guitar exclusively on stage and loves the sound.. The guitar has his name inlayed on the fingerboard with maple and ebony...This guitar costs around $2000 US dollars but since his was the first one built and it is custom inlayed for Georgo,it probably would cost around $3000..... Posted May 14, 2002 · Report post Yes,the first one mentioned is the guitar with the yellowish brown finish on the top and has the traditional center soundhole on the guitar.That is the nylon string classical guitar that he has used since 1993..The John Buscarino "Starlight classic"....Superb guitar(Georgo only uses the best) The other guitar that is in several pictures posted here is a 1999...Custom made "Ovation Adamas" steel string guitar..It was the very first production model of this style.It has the multy soundholes with beautiful leave patterns around the soundholes.The leaves designs are wooden(mahogany,maple,pauduck,ebony)His guitar was built one year before they were to be built and sold to the public in stores.It was not the prototype,just the first production.Custom inlayed with his name on it..He is using this guitar currently at Zygos......Of cource both guitars are used for specific songs and specific sounds that Dalaras needs to get for songs..For example he would use the classical guitar for the latin style songs and any other songs that would sound better with a classical guitar.Although i have seen Georgo use the one guitar the entire show...Depends on his mood.. Georgo has used ovation almost exclusively on stage since 1972..He has many,many other guitars in his home and collection but the ovations seem to work best for him on stage..The one that really defined his sound was his early ovation Adamas from 1978-1992..When i first heard that tape and that guitar on the live version of "ta tragoudia mou",i fell in love with that guitar i had to have one just like it...Now i have over 60 guitars..Most ovations......You could say "TRELATHIKA" Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
