Manoula mou

19 posts in this topic

I have been desperately looking for Mouskouri's live version of Hadjidakis' song "Manoula mou" from the following LP (1968):

UNE SOIREE AVEC NANA MOUSKOURI ET LES ATHENIENS

This version is extremely beautiful. Has any member of the club got it?

Francois

At the specific place and time I don't have anything. However, do you mean the song that starts like

Αν με πηγαίναν αύριο στην κρεμάλα

etc etc?

If yes, we may have an album at home but I am not sure it is the one you want. I just want to see if it is this one... :)

No, Nikolas, it is the very famous song from "Odos oniron" that goes like this: "Ach, ti dropi, tetoia dropi, mana mou, kai pos vyainei?".

This one was marvellously sung by Yiorgos Romanos and by Dimitra Galani, but I doubt Mouskouri has sung it, and I wouldn't advise her to sing it today because her voice has become (...), unfortunately...

The last time she could sing correctly was when Hadjidakis worked with her for his songs "Oi mythoi mias gynaikas".

Yes, Odyseus3, the 1968 live Mouskouri version recorded in Paris... It is incredibly sweet and powerful at the same time...

I have the original Lakis Pappas version, of course. This work (Odos oneirwn) is great indeed. :music:

Btw, thanks for your posts with the cover. The new release includes a track that was not included in the original LP. It's called "Aeriko". I wonder if it is the famous "Aeriko" originally sung by Iorgos Romanos and later interpreted by GD.

Thanks a lot, Odyseus3, for your nice posts about Hadjidakis who happens to be my "favourite" Greek composer. But I still wonder where I'll find my song ... :)

I agree with you that the basic question is not yet satified with an answer.

I think it is very difficult. But you never know. I keep you informed

Yes, as you say, you never know... :)

Btw I think Difwno was right to make that record about Hadjidakis' vision of women in his songs. Great idea.

It was on Nana Mouskouris: "Mes plus belles chansons grecques" by FONTANA in 1964. (see your Dragoumanos too)

But probably NOT LIVE as you wanted.

This CD is available at Greek City Toronto.

I know that version, but it's not the one I am looking for... :)

Outstanding, really !!!

:):D:D
