This week's favorite song (too)

Francois, I was afraid to listen to it and it turned out I was right to be. Hence 'Bon courage'.

At the moment, I can't imagine wanting any other version than this.

My song for this very special day:

Ena to chelidoni, by Bithikotsis.

For your ears only

Today I woke up with difficulty and Αστέρι μου, φεγγάρι μου singing in my ears - it's still there.

Theodorakis, with Elytis and Bithikotsis, on the first day "Axion Esti" was performed on stage. This version of "Axion Esti" is not only for my ears... It is the historical one, with all its creators. Listen to Manos Katrakis' voice too!!! Just great... I was very lucky to see him play the part of Oedipus in "Oedipus Rex" staged by Karolos Koun in Epidavros in 1981... Great actor too!

Μεθυσμενα τραγουδια, the whole so melodious album, is helping me in the last days. Paradoxically, to get balance.

Tomorrow is August, and I haven't changed my mind for the songs... :)

No, not war for me, please, not now.

For some days and some times: To παιχνιδι της αγαπης, Χ.

and a book: Jules Verne, A journey to the center of the earth. Francois, you dare give the original title. But the wonderful drawings I remember are lost in my edition I got now....

For Jules Verne, thanks! The songs, I know, Francois!

You know why? Because of these neighbours of my grandma took to Auschwitz for their Jewish origin and name, and because of this

lemon tree having already fruits the neighbour was taking care about before this happened and my grandma left her home already.

No great wounds, no great words and sounds, only this memory of my grandma and these stories I heard so often in my life, that this association was now almost without thinking there... Give me this lemon tree again and I will be able to hear every song against war. The only one which suits for me here is perhaps "Toy Xaroy", you know, with this wordless melody of a female voice inside.

It reminds me of the last night I spent in Greece three years ago.

There is this extraodinary (and very pleasant) experience, which I hope you know: a song, a fairly familiar song, that you like... and that you suddenly hear all new, all fresh, as if for the first time...

So, I knew Ελλισσώ from Pantelis Thalassinos. A beloved song.

And then I heard Dalaras singing it.

:music:

And now I want to hear it again, and again, and again... but the radio won't obey my orders

Yes, Geske, I know that: "Enas kombos i xara mou", the Frankfurt version from "Live and unplugged". And: Tribute to Giorgo Zambeta, one of the melodies I know so long and like every time more and more.

Viva Paco!

:music:
