Posted April 22, 2002 · Report post Hmm. I do want to put Moustaki on the cd. "Avec ma gueule de meteque" was dear to my heart before I was twelve... And still is... But. I haven't got it.

Posted April 22, 2002 · Report post OK, here is a wish list. These are songs that I really would like to include in the compilation, but do not have... O μετοικος - avec ma gueule de meteque, by George Moustaki Ολα σε θυμίζουν - by Dalaras (Alexiou I have) Το κοκκινο φουστάνι - by Arvanitaki and by Dalaras, I don't know either but I'm taking soc's word for it Είναι αργά πολύ αργά - by Stratos Dionysiou and by Dalaras (I know only Dalaras' but the tape died so I don't have either). Αν είναι η αγαπη εγγλιμά - by Kazantzidis (I still think Dalaras is much better but I would like it in there anyway) Περασμένες μου αγάπες - by Hiotis and Linda And I am still open to suggestions of any and all kinds. Does anyone know an "authentic" version of the Fado do CoImbra, for example?

Posted April 22, 2002 · Report post Τα παιδιά της γειτονιάς σου by Eleni Tsaligopoulou and Dalaras, though I found in the "στίχοι" that the lyrics are a little different (I don't have the version by Dalaras). You want it, Geske? Micki

Micki Micki, simply because it is a traditional song. That means that variations may exist and, since this one is a song sang by many modern artists, one takes this, another takes that and so on... Who doesn't have and at the same time wants a more traditional version of the song?

Posted May 2, 2002 · Report post There seems to be a version of 'ομορφη πόλη' (omorfi poli) sung by Socrates Malamas. Has anyone heard it? Would you include it?

Posted May 4, 2002 · Report post Next idea of compilation came up a few weeks before I went to Athens (Zygos). I didnt get it ready in time to take it with me. And now Im actually glad for it so I could think of it more carefully. I want to call it Φιλία - Friendship. I dedicate it to you, most members that I have met and a few members that I havent met in person (yet) but seen on this site often and the last song to all that I haven't mentioned here (almost impossible to think of a song for all the members, sorry). The songs I choose for each has something that reminds me of you, rhythm, a line, lyrics (not necessarily the whole lyrics), the music, something that I read in your posts, Some I found quickly, some I searched for, by reading pirvate messages, posts and topics again and again. And I had fun, re-reading some of the conversations in some topics. The reason of the song I found for you could, of course also be a for another member. But for some reason it made me think of you ! And the order to put the songs in was even more difficult, so I took the easiest way, the alphabetical order (of your names). Here I go : 1. Μια βραδιά στο Λεβερκούσεν for Anna for the many nights Ive been there. The song has become special to me. 2. Να ζήσω ή να πεθάνω (by Charis Alexiou) for Annemarie. This song sounds so passionate, and unless Im wrong (hope not), I think that she lives her life like that and always has done so (I saw her reaction on the bouzouki song in Zygos). 3. Χάντρα στο κομπολόι σου for Apostolis. His passion for Dalaras music and showing itμ came over so strong to me that I almost thought he would be that, that opening night in Zygos. 4. Ο τραγουδιστής for Astron, inspired by your post in the topic Greetings, the first post there, and inspiring for me to wellcome new members (and having ouzo's :sarcasm: ) 5. Λουλούδι for Eleni, in Trip to Turkey you mentioned you like the folk songs, on Η ασφαλτό που τρέχει esp. by M. Φαμελλός, and I choose this song for the lines : "γίνεται τραγούδι τραγούδι τραγούδι που με ταξιδεύει στη βροχή" (reminds me of your kindness). 6. Εβίβα ρεμβέτες for Francois, one of your favourites from Kaldaras. 7. La Malaguena for Franz, I just think you like rhythm. 8. Διδιμότειχο blues for Gazakas, for your courage, I dont think it needs further comment. 9. Ο μέτοικος for Geske, always on the road ... 10. Το τραγούδι μου (by Glikeria) for Guitarist, you were looking for this song once, did you find the lyrics by now ? 11. ’σπρο περιστέρι for Kate, the song that brought her to Dalaras, to this site, and to us. 12. Καλή τύχη for Lynne, shell understand. 13. Η άλλη μου ζωή for Maria de los Angeles, I think thats want she would like sometimes. 14. Οι φίλοι (by Charis Alexiou) for Niki, because I know she values friendship very much. 15. Τα τραγούδια είναι ... for Nikolas, we know, we learn, from the songs thanks to him. 16. I will survive, for Soc, I know you will (btw, its by R.E.M., the acoustic version). 17. and for Margarita, my one and only Dalaras soulmate in Belgium, her for ever favourite 'Μη μου θυμώνεις, μάτια μου'. 18. and for all of us Το μέλλον. I know I always say, make the best day of today. But I'd still like to think that 'το μέλλον' will have hopefull today's left for us. (and I still miss the song to make the CD complete. If somebody has it, please ?) A way of expressing what you all mean to me, each in your own way. Micki ps, thank you for the ones sending me songs, without knowing what the project was and even if I didnt use some sent-to-me songs, thank you !
