Duets (or answering Niki's question)

Some time ago Niki asked if anyone knew how many 'duets' Dalaras had sung and it seemed no-one knew the answer. Anyway, I thought it might be time for a bit of research. So, if anyone would like to help, could you send me any information you have - or as much as you feel like sending. I'll need the name of the song, the recording (could you say if it's an LP, CD or tape) and the singer(s). I'm not proposing to make any distinction between 'duets' and 'Β φωνή' unless anyone thinks there's a good reason for doing that.

Well, there's a "duet" that I don't like at all: it's the one with Mouskouri singing "T'asteri tou Voreia". It would probably have been a very good duet before ,let's say, 1980, when Mouskouri still had good vocal skills, but today, she can't sing anymore. Her last good recording was "Oi mythoi mias gynaikas" by Hadzidakis. He knew how to make her work.

Other duets that I don't like at all are his duets with Papakonstantinou whom I can't stand at all for many reasons.

I must confess that I prefer Dalaras singing on his own, but of course, this is a matter of taste. I have never liked duets generally speaking anyway. They are often too much artificial.

Niki, great job. I started with 18 lianotragouda taking his personal discography by year, so that I don't miss anything. But you came first!

I also forgot Aygi (the one you mentioned with Anna Vissi in 18 lianotragouda)

Francois, in Metoikos Moustaki sings the first verse in Greek, then Dalaras sings in Greek, then Moustaki in French, and then Dalaras in Greek. The last verse is sang by both in Greek.

In Mesogeios, Moustaki starts first and sings in French and then in Greek and Dalaras joins him in Greek. And there is an interaption

a woman is talking to someone who appears to be Clinton

and then back to the song Dalaras and Moustaki sing together in Greek the end of Mesogeios. I love it!

but if we were to go through all the duets of Dalaras in chronological order, lets not forget the 1st two participations he had back in the late 60's

beginning with Litsa Diamanti (Shoot I forget the name of the song now)

and in the next participation he sings several songs

with Kety Arabis from the album "AN ZOUSAN OI ARHEOI"

According to the booklet of the CD he sings this song with "Η ΠΑΙΔΙΚΗ ΧΟΡΟΔΙΑ ΤΟΥ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΗ ΤΥΠΑΛΔΟΥ-I Paidiki Horodia Tou Dimitri Tipaldou".
