Posted July 10, 2004 · Report post The Olympic Flame returned to Greece yesterday after a global relay of over 78,000 kilometers (47,000 miles), through 26 countries on five continents. It left Athens on June 2 and returned to a traditional welcome at Iraklion, Crete, aboard a plane named Zeus after the father of the Olympian gods who, legend has it, grew up on the island. Some 7,000 runners will carry it through 29 Greek towns before the Games begin.
