---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello to all! Everybody here has in common greek music and Dalaras' songs. However we all come from different places and our ages vary and so do the music we listen to. Therefore I would really love to hear some non-greek songs that you simply like or consider them to be important in the world musical history. It could be instrumental pieces as well. So I go first and choose a song I like very much. Chris Isaak - Wicked game

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guys, there is no need for you to write many songs, as it is impossible to include all the songs one likes in a single post. According to your mood, whenever you hear-remember a song, just post it here. There is no limit, since just lik Geeske said, this is an endless conversation. Posted January 30, 2005 · Report post Panos, the #### is the automated censor of the forum: there is a list of "not allowed words" which get replaced by ### automatically when they occur in a post. The intention is to prevent name-calling - you can't call someone an i d i o t because the censor puts in #### instead. The result is funny or annoying (depending how you look at it). Anyway it's very easy to cheat it. You put spaces between the letters (see above), or you mis-spell: idiott, damnn, fukk and so on. Here's a song that won't get censored by anyone: Blue evening - by Glenn Miller (yes that song was old before I was born - so what?)
Posted January 30, 2005 · Report post Somebody told me years ago, this is the music just for suicide, nevertheless, I like it in many circumstances. And I am not going to become a self-killer. Neil Young, Dead man (to a film by Jim Jarmusch). As I saw the film for the first time, this was the last show in a small cinema in a rather suburbian part of Cracow, when we were only four spectators. After a half of hour I thought: "hm, is it boring, it is so terribly slow....". As I saw it for the second time, one year after, I thought: "hm, thought this be madness, yet there is method in't". After some a year and a half I thought "well, just for me".

Thank you Geske for this notification. Of course I had loads of ideas for cheating the system, but I didn't want to use any, at that time, for the fear that I might offend the founder of this censorious mechanism. I bet I am the first person who's put it practically in use To our topic. A not-so-recent song that I heard few days ago in a play: Spiritual : Charlie Haden and Pat Metheny. I heard it in Richard III !!!
Posted February 8, 2005 · Report post MichaelThere is a very nice song from Francoise Hardy called "L'amitie" in the movie "The Barbarian Invasions" by Denys Arcand. There is a very touching scene at the end, before the hero of the movie died, where he told his family and friends that all he wanted was to take away with him their smiles. Imagine that they had to smile at such a moment ... This is the sequel to the movie "The Decline of the American Empire". Do you know the song? No, Natalie, the song I mentioned is the only I know with Francoise Hardy. As I do not know French, in general my knowledge about French music is very small. Most of the (few) songs I know I heard accidentally in the radio and began to like them (as it happened also for example with Gilbert Becaud's "Nathalie" ).
