Posted March 19, 2003 · Report post Ο εαυτός μου it turned up sort of unexpectedly on the headfones, this morning, as I was bicycling. And suddenly the lyrics started to make sense. And I've been humming it all day since - that's Akis Panou, he can write terrible super-glue songs.

Posted March 20, 2003 · Report post It helps not against every fear and anarchy and lost peace - and there are some dear people in the world who are closer to the great danger than me and I can not help them..... But these days I wake up, live and go to sleep with these already mentioned "Hymnoi angelon". Even if I understand so approximately every third sentence of old Byzantine language, it's still a real great support. Kane kouragio, Niki, an mporeis, oxi o olokliros o dounias trellathike! (the most repeated sentence lately here by me). "Πρόσχες τη φωνή της δεήσεως μου"... - I don't know, how to put it into right words; but I stil believe this voice, even these so sad days. Posted March 28, 2003 · Report post It catched me up like a need to breathe deeper and does not get lost after hearing to it only one time: the Mikra Asia songs: "Kampanes tis Agias Sofias" and "Ferte mou nero" with the Giannis Fertis spoken introduction (what a voice, what a clear pronunciation) and I looked into a text Kenan Basar gave us: Ne anlatır Yunan şarkıları / What do Greek songs portray Sonsuzluğa güzelliğe, sonsuz barışa dair / about infinity, beauty, about immense peace Acılarla dolsak da ne kadar / though we are filled up with pain too much Sımsıcak yaşamaya dair / about leading a warm life Ne anlatır Yunan şarkıları / What do Greek songs portray Bir gün birleşeceğini mi bütün şarkıların / one day all songs will come together Ne anlatır Yunan şarkıları / What do Greek songs portray Bu kadar uzak...ve bu kadar yakın / so far...and ..so close Ataol Behramoğlu The whole in the section: Translations under the title: What do Greek songs portray. Tesekkur ederim, Kenan. And the "Al-Fil" I got today, for you, too.
Posted March 29, 2003 · Report post Until the war is over: Magic de Spell: "Σαράγεβο"... Μια οθόνη μου δείχνει μηδέν εποχές που δεν γίνονται θαύματα ένα στόμα φωνάζει πως δεν θα με πείσεις με χίλια τεχνάσματα A rough translation: Mafgic de Spell: "Sarajevo" I walk with my eyes closed I keep them that way and I dream do not touch me do not wake me up your truth I no longer accept I don't even open my eyes I travel trough the world and I'm on fire if you love me don't speak I cannot afford any more lies Shout our life is lost, here it goes Disolve the dust that covers the light Death goes for vacations in Sarajevo Wake up in the news you see them and keep eating Tonight I see things double the sun is shinning even though it's midnight two heavy sigarretes and I 'm flying in space A screen shows me a zero seasons where no miracles happen a mouth screams that you won't convince me with a million tricks we could replace Sarajevo with Irac... couldn't we?
